F117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0 on GOG

For me it's the same reason why I don't own a gaming console. A lot less button/joystick input required to play these older games. Once you add more buttons than up,down,left,right, a & b I get easily confused. :D

I dunno, bbmike. I think some of the older games have a ton of keyboard commands...remember the overlays you'd put over your keyboard to help you spot keys quickly? F117A was but one of many that had such a set-up. Without it, it's tough to remember what key does what, especially in the heat of combat, except through practice.

True, but those overlays made it easier for me...I think. Now that you mention it, didn't you also get printed maps of the regions in the game? I seem to remember having those as well.

Ugh, I sorta want to hit this.

I played F-19 until my eyes bled. It was my very first sim.

I find it hard to believe that you would not be able to run Falcon. Its an old game too and has very low system requirements for today's standards. :)

Still even if you cannot, then I would choose any of the Jane's sims over these EGA graphics 'sims'.
While very nice in the day they are very archaic now, even compared to something like Harrier Jump Jet by Domark. Or Apache Longbow by Jane's.

But hey, if you're having fun, right!! :) Thats All that matters. Who am I to tell people what to play. I just find it fascinating that people still like to play these fossils?

I'd like to see the old Dynamix Aces sims GOGified to run on later systems. It's been ages since I took a Mosquito 'Tse-tse Fly' out on an anti-ship mission.

I seem to remember putting it in god mode once, then dropping endless ordinance all over Libya. That was a fun night. All military targets of course.

I would strongly recommend getting the steam version of this game.

The GOG version still requires you to answer a question on what type of aircraft is displayed. Get it wrong, and you're boned.

The steam version does away with the copy protection requirement entirely. Much better.

You can just look up the answer in the manual or the aircraft ID card (can't remember which). They come with the game.

No it doesn't. I am not sure what version of the game you are playing but my GoG version zips blissfully past any DRM questions.

Yeah, I've not run into any copy protection issues with any GOG game, except the Star Trek 25th Anniversary one, though I have not tried to play it since I ran into my minor issue.

Hi, everyone.

I loved playing F-19 but never played F-117A mainly due to the fact that I really loved the Revell F-19 model I had and was not a fan of the faceted diamond body of the actual stealth fighter. I was actually looking for another Revell F-19 model to replace the one I had growing up when I stumbled upon a site that mentioned the old F-19 game I used to love playing.

Following one link after another looking into getting a copy of the game again led me here. I am now curious about F-117A and considering buying it and had a couple of questions to all who are still following this thread.

I know that you can choose to have 2 different weapons set up one for the real F-117A and one for the fictional F-19. But is the aircraft model for the F-19 available in this game? If it is not, are you guys aware of any mods that makes the F-19 aircraft model available for this game?

The F-19 model is not available in-game, only the 'real' F-117, though as you noted players can opt for the gun and somewhat larger loadout of the F-19. I don't know about any mods changing the graphics back to an F-19 Frisbee.

(I myself always played the sequel with the F-19 loadout capabilities. I appreciated having the real life limitations as an option, and played a few missions like that for a change of pace, but those limitations are for a joint operation aircraft with limited specific mission capabilities working together with other aircraft like it, and in concert with other aircraft following in behind. Which are just not options for playing the Nighthawk game, where you're expected to solo missions.)

I do want to play the game now that I am much older and have a better appreciation for the F-117A I really would have liked to have the option to have the F-19 model available though. It is far more aesthetically pleasing to me in every way.
