All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Mom will not be pleased, Dad.

Of course, I make exceptions for my friends here. Heck, most days I can almost forget you're Yankees  O0

Looking at this map, methinks it better that Del Monte sponsor Vietnamese artificial island building!  Besides, the Vietnamese already know what it is to trade fire with the Chinese.

Any time is a good time for pie.

IIRC, the Vietnamese and Chinese have traded patrol boat shots over stuff in the area before.

I still wonder how pissed all the other nations, with claims in the area, are about China building military bases on them.  I know most of them have little Navy to speak of so they may just be keeping relatively quiet because they can't do much about it.

Possession being nine tenths of the law, I suspect you're right.

Geeze, I just went on google maps, and you can actually see the buggers working on some islands.  Like ticks on a dog!

Apparently, it is a place called Subi Reef.

So I continue scanning the area, and I find this bad omen (attached).  It's almost dead centre in the midst of the Spratleys, near some island dredging.  I assume that it is Chinese.

And that little anti-christ bugger, by my Google Map calculations, looks to be around 150 km west of Palawan, and island that is clearly part of the Philippine archipelago.   :o

Personally, I look at that map and think that the entire area was bought and paid for with American blood. But memories are short and clearly I'm still living in the 1940s.

Isn't the number of that ship 999?

And I agree with LB - I see it in a 1940s way too.

They're Chinese. Much better for us to use 444.

That's a peaceful vessel.  Did you notice the peace signs?
