Haha. Someone at Wired needs decent editing. What's next? The Sun still rises in the east? The Pope is still Catholic?

That blows, but I'm not surprised.  I'm quite certain the article's supposition about Marvel wanting to save Jackson's last two appearances for the Infinity War movies is correct. 

Of course, if he does manage to get that contract extension he's working on, that could change (and lots of people will be very happy).  8)

No.  But I have been disappointed on some level with every Hollywood adaption I have ever seen of something I love, so this is just par for the course.
