This weekend, I'll chug a little farther into Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (the full set of which I picked up back at Christmas on deep discount), although I can't tell after three(ish) missions whether I'm really feeling it yet. I'm a big fan of AC4, AC5, and AC0 (a prequel to 5); and always wanted to play the XBox ACom, the name of which I forget at the moment but the soundtrack of which I bought and mixed with AC5/0.

This is not that game. It's... well... to be blunt, a big draw for me has always been the alternate universe milieu of the AceCom series -- even on the Playstation Portable, I finished the game set in one of their fictional universes but never bothered finishing the one set in an alternate 'real life'. For much the same reason I've never been able to get into the Tom Clancy H.A.W.X. game (aside from the silly name) which in mechanics is nothing but Ace Combat, yet is set in a supposedly real-life milieu. (The uninspired music for HAWX and Assault Horizon isn't helping either.)

More likely I'll start Far Cry 4, which with its single-player DLC is my big purchase on the Steam sale this summer. (With Arkham Knight on the way at the end of the month, pre bought not on sale.) I came within a hair of buying all the single-player portions of Assassin's Creed 3 and 4, before I realized I've never even installed AssCreed2 and its assorted family of set-sequels; I should wait for another sale later on that (whereupon the price presumably might have dropped a bit more.)


Out of amusement, I here routinely note that The Saboteur was never on sale at Gamersgate again, and it looks like Lost Planet 2 won't be on sale at Steam again either. (I've played and thoroughly enjoyed the former on PS3, though I've heard it's a bit buggy on PC. The latter I'm only interested in as completing a set for games I've never bothered playing yet, and also because I'm morbidly amused about how the other two games of its series are regularly on sale but it never seems to be.)

Tonight I'm dong some video editing from my twitch stream last weekend, and setting up for my Command stream tomorrow. After tomorrows stream I hope to be split my time between Elite, EUIV with the new DLC, Distant Worlds and whatever, if anything, I get from the Steam sale...but more then likely I'll just end up playing Elite.
