Hey Gang,

I get to play in my first session of Dungeon World (DW) this afternoon.  I've been eyeing up this RPG for a while and am very excited to see how it plays since DW is one of thew new more narrative style RPGs like Fate.

Anyone in the group have any experience with the system or it's parent rule-set called Apocalypse World Engine?

Best,

Never played it, so I'd love to hear your feedback :)

After you've viewed it as long as the rest of us your mind will change.  ::)

So we had out first session last night.  Like any RPG the GM and PCs really make the game, not the rule-set.  That said, I really did like Dungeon World for several reasons.

  • Light rules - We did not spend a whole bunch of time thumbing through the rulebook
  • The Gm does not roll much - Your actions provoke or trigger the NPC's actions
  • The Bonds - The game forces you to record specific bonds with the other PCs that help define your character and their actions
  • You get XP for failures -  Your character is not superhuman so failure is not pretty, but it is rewarding

I would recommend we administer a trial by pressing, if you did so.
