^ I bought the Ken Burns set a while back. I've been waiting to have that Civil War itch to play before I start to watch them...perhaps I shouldn't put them off any longer

I remember this series back when I watched it on PBS, but it never gets old does it?  I was watching it on Youtube, but you just gave me a plan for Christmas  :)

Playing a bit of "Scourge of War: Waterloo". Got me interested in an era for which I have never had the slightest interest. Interesting how gaming does that

The Ken Burns Civil War series in on Netflix, in the event you already have that.

Regarding gaming, pretty pathetic here.  I played ARMA 3 as previously reported, and a little bit of War of the Roses.  WotR is such a sad game.  It has/had so much potential.  It looks fantastic and there are just oodles and oodles of weapons and armor to choose from with which to customize your character.  But the developers came up with a horrible pricing scheme, apparently the place is a hacker heaven, and with Vikings game, the community has simply abandoned the WotR game.  I got on the most populated non-dueling server I could find and it was 9 vs. 9, no cavalry, which is just not any fun.

What a bummer.

Anyway, I spent all of today (Sunday) doing chores that were long overdue to be done; basically built some racks for my surfboards in my garage and other garage maintenance to finally get moved into this house like we live here.  It took all day, but now I can rest knowing I'm mostly done.  One of the racks didn't come out too good, so I might have to revisit that, but the important one for my standup paddleboards came out very nicely.

Realitively little gaming for me this weekend.  A few turns of Pools and AOW III.

Mostly played WoWS all day yesterday after my power came back on. Played a little this morning but got annoyed with being taken out by Japanese destroyer torpedo spam 4 games in a row.

Spent the rest of today working in weather scripts for CMANO and playing some Crusader Kings 2. Was finally able to form the Kingdom of Burgundy. Crown laws in CK2 can be really weird sometimes. I had some de jure claims that I've been unable to press because crown laws in the HRE forbid wars between vassals. Now that I'm a king I can now press those claims and I even got de jure claims on Savoy I never had before. I also noticed my cousin was the Duke of Dauphine, right next to my territory, and that I was his heir because he didn't have any kids. So I plotted his murder. The plot succeeded but not before he had a daughter. I didn't get direct control of the county, but the new countess did become my vassal. Damn I forgot just how much fun CK2 can be.
PanzersEast: Have to think to myself.... will I play the first one by the Winter Sale?  Probably not, then I should remove Dragonfall
PanzersEast: but that is thinking too logically.... and Steam Sales are about ignoring Logic

Crazy windstorms knocked down trees all over the city and cut power to much of it.  I tried getting down to the FLGS yesterday to meet up with some guys to play Wilderness War but all three main traffic arteries were closed down due to downed trees.  I tried taking some side-streets but it took me over an hour to go 10 blocks.

I came home and went for a walk to check the damage.  I couldn't get through to the trails on either of my usual walking paths due to downed trees but the worst of it all?  The power's been out at my local liquor store for 3 days now and they've closed up shop.

At least the power is on at my place.  I've been spending far too much time playing a stupidly addicting, free-to-play  tactical combat/RPG called Card Hunter.

Aside from oodles of Shandalar (for which I have a new DAR entry on the way, probably tonight), I got through the first campaign prequel battles of Card Hunter (having seen someone else playing it rather often, which reminded me of its existence -- I think that was you, SDR!) And, oddly, with Grand Ages Medieval on the way very soon (though I'm sure I'll hold off for bug stomping and perhaps a Thanksgiving or Christmas sale), I've gone back to play through some of its predecessors starting with Pharaoh / Cleopatra (since Caesar 3 still has some GoG induced bugs, and really there are better Romeish sequels to that including Grand Ages: Rome itself.) So I finished the first campaign mission there.

Squeezed in some Arma 3 KOTH

getting the hang of it - beginning to recognise a good pilot and a bad, like the hummingbird pilot who flies into conflict over and over and over and over, and theres me stupid enough to get on everytime

loving the personal battles that crop up as you return to 'your area' to kill your nemesis, i had a small church yard as mine where the red team would gather to shoot the blue force as they came in by chopper, mowed a few down before they shot our guys, revived a few and then got blown up - really brutal how everyone comes to pick over your kit whilse your still watching

for me its CoD for grown ups - which is something ive wanted for a long time

Knocked out 1 of my 2 AI opponents in Age of Wonders 3.

Started reading the rules for Pillars of Eternity.  Will buy it today(?) and start on it after I complete my AOW3 game.

Man, that Card Hunter game is not only like eating pizza, it's more-or-less free! (I haven't gotten far enough yet to figure out what anyone pays for. Modules?)

The Greek setting version, Zeus & Poseidon, has a hi-res mod.  I'm also pretty sure that was the final old style 2D city builder in that series.

The final one is Empire of the Middle Kingdom.

I played some Hegemony Rome, Horizon and continued my old Romulan campaign of Birth of the Federation. Took the last planet with dilithium from the Cardassians. They still have a lot of ships but can't build new ones. 😁
