So Doug's got me into a Napoleonic completionist binge (*facepunch*...we need an emoji for that) and I was searching, and searching, and searching, and eventually settled on an MIB "Napoleon's Last Battles" First Edition SPI flatpack that comes with the "Napoleon at Waterloo" add-on game...also MIB.

Thing is, I bought it from Etsy.

Now, I've bought things from Etsy before, but always for my wife.  Perhaps I missed it, or perhaps this seller is unique, but, frankly, when I buy something for you, I like a good description of the product, preferably with pictures, prior to purchase (check), I want you to ship promptly (check), and I want you to let me know if there are problems.

I do not, I don't think, want an effusive note welcoming me to your on-line "family" and encouraging me to not only browse your other goods (that I get), but share my thoughts about "our" hobby (they actually specialize in vintage family games), and anything else that might be on my mind.  I am, perhaps, being curmudgeonly on a Friday morning -- and I may be too used to the weirdness that is Wally's Basement -- but it came off as a little cult-y and weird...

Best,

Is this a desperate cry for Napoleonic purchasing intervention?  :D

Maybe I was thinking Ertl. I remember seeing that on my model kits year ago.

I think Ertl made toy farm sets with animals or something like that.

There's a guy that makes some pretty cool looking dice towers on there that I've been looking at getting.  Wasn't sure how or what Etsy was though.

Quit yer whinging. I just ponied up for the MMP Marengo game because I just covered that campaign/battle in my re-read of Chandler and I don't have anything that covers it. And I'm re-reading Chandler because of you.

You are, in fact, a curmudgeon. Or at least well on your way. This is not a bad thing, but rather a state that gentlemen of a certain age and social standing naturally achieve and revel in. Some men achieve it at an even younger age. It simply represents that point at which our hormones recede enough that we can finally see that people have been walking on our damn lawns.

As for "cult-y..." well, I'm not sure any of us belonging to the "International Hard-core Napoleonic Gaming Society" are really in any position to cast stones. :)

OK, so, for the record...

The game came completed as advertised, in excellent packaging, and sooner than I had expected.  High points!  Behold the glory of SPI in those halcyon days:

Oh...right...and before I go...THIS is what was packed on top of my game:

Nope, not kidding.

Dude! Aquaman sticker!

I just finished punching the counters on Danube 20. Laser-cut, 5/8", 4 color with amazing unit graphics and a good 1.8" thick. Things have come a long, long way.

Those nice, heavy, no-clipping-required laser cut counters from VPG are wonderful.  At least, the ones that I own.

I'd much rather wipe the residual ash off the sides of those counters than clip the corners off the scrawny little GMT ones.
