I am more uneasy than pleased. The authoritarian way this seems to have been handled and the rough neighborhood that Japan is in gives me bad vibes. The last thing the US needs right now is a war in the Pacific.

Therefore it was inevitable.

We haven't exactly abandoned Japan,  but it is time for them to take a larger role in the Pac Rim. And we definitely need to be paying attention to  alliances if we're serious about containing the ChiComms.
