Something turn based is the best as you can take your time with it and step away whenever the need arises.

My suggestion would be to give up on gaming and watch some serious Netflix. Alternate some military history shows with scifi series such as Primeval or Eureka and throw in an action movie or two to keep up the momentum. It may be all empty calories but it will help the time pass more quickly.

I've been watching Netflix. Just started Ken Burns' documentary on baseball.

Sorry to hear you're ill, MarkShot.  I wish you a safe & speedy recovery!

When I play Distant Worlds sick I set everything to be under AI control and watch the game play itself.
I find this works quite nicely as well.  I know some criticize Distant Worlds for being able to "play itself", but I honestly think it's one of the game's strengths -- you can micro the game as much or as little as you like.

CO:BftB  ...i had just set up a grand strategy with commands for a only few higher-up HQs and lay back, start the sim, and watch (without sound, cause that could be unnerving when ill)  the AI doing its thing and see the situation unfold... maybe pause ... a few corretions... and so on...

In 1999, I was back home after open heart surgery.  I was in no condition (rib spreader) to fly my beloved EAW.  I just fired up a big air battle and used the game key to external view friendly fighters as they dogfighted.  It was a wonderful magical experience to find out that the Battle of Britain was still going on even if I couldn't fly in it.

In 2005, I was hospitalized (heart attack) for about 4 weeks.  It would have been nice to have had an iPad with me.  However, I read O'Kanes "Wahoo" and "Clear the Bridge!".  They were good reads and reminded me of my own patrols.  In fact, I was out on patrol the day the heart attack hit.  (Games really need to have a heart attack quick save key as one of their accessibility options.)  I am taking very few game hard copy materials to Taiwan with me (mainly depending on the iPad for PDFs), but I am taking "Wahoo" and "Clear the Bridge!".  They just have too much sentimental value.

@Capn Darwin
It's OT but noticed your avatar.  Is that a new Matrix Game in the works?

Capn Darwin

Yes. We are still waiting for the ok and location to talk about it. Stay tuned.   8)

Mark -- hope you and the missus are feeling better.  How about a little semi-mindless Magic: The Gathering?
