Can scouts be automated?

No. I wished they were. Too many "goodie huts", in any event. Many of these provide substantial numbers of resources, and require some micro'ing to obtain.

After discovering a couple more towns, I tried to get another merchant started on another route, but the game wouldn't let me do so. By then I was broke and tired of fooling with the game, so I quit.

Were you playing the campaign? I started it tonight after the download completed, just to piddle around a bit. Seems like it holds your hand pretty well, at least at first...?

One merchant per town that you own. Thems the rules. In practice, this works fine..as soon as one merchant serves three towns, you now have an extra.

But I had four towns.  ??? I guess I did something wrong; the game is far from being intuitive.
Regardless of how good a PC game may be it will always have its detractors and no matter how bad a PC game may be it will always have its fans.

tgb

Dumb question but are you trying to recruit from the same town as the first?

Greybriar

I tried to recruit a second merchant from the same town as the first and couldn't. So I tried a different town and didn't have any luck there either. I'll try again tomorrow if I feel like playing Grand Ages: Medieval. It may have had something to do with me being broke. :-[

In-game or real life? Or both?

I wanted to like this game but after a short bit with it I thought the best thing to do was ask for a refund. They are notorious for adding DLC so I may give it another looksee during a sale.

Grim.Reaper

I have it..but haven't grasped it yet...hoping it clicks at some point.

In game, Gus.

Fortunately for me, I have been spared bad luck, bad health, bad investments, and other financial disasters in recent years...at least so far. *crosses fingers*

I've just been looking over the Grand Ages Medieval poster and game manual and feel they could have been designed to be more easily used by us gamers. For one thing, the poster is too large; had the lower half been split into a page each for Production, Infrastructure, and Military it would have been so much easier to access and use.
