"Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out until too late that he's been playing with two queens all along".  Terry Pratchett.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

"When all other trusts fail, turn to Flashman." — Abraham Lincoln.

"I have enjoyed very warm relations with my two husbands."
"With your eyes closed?"
"That helped."  Lauren Bacall

Master Chiefs are sneaky, dastardly, and snarky miscreants who thrive on the tears of Ensigns and belly dancers.   Admiral Gerry Bogan.

Heh.

I took an astronomy course in college. Great fun. Actually learned some stuff.

One of the prof's pet peeves as it were was comic strips that didn't show the proper phase of the moon. One of our assignments was to read the comics for a week or two and cut out examples of authors who both did and did not properly pay attention to these phases.

Charles Schultz, author of Peanuts, is (was) renown for accuracy in his comics - from the phase of the moon to musical notes, it was all 100% academically accurate. You could, if you wished, play any piece of music he had in his strip. And the moon always corresponded to the proper date/time.

Wizard of Id OTOH was infamous for having no clue what a proper phase of the moon looked like.

I have since failed to keep up practicing watching when the proper phase of the moon should be, but it brought back a nice memory of my astronomy prof that this guy noticed.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

How do we know that the Simpson's house isn't really upside down? Oh wait. Then Homer's belly would be hanging over the top of his head.
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.
