New Russian War film

Some decent Russian war movies recently..well for action anyway. However in all of them the Germans look inept, sadistic and generally useless and the Russian are all supermen..still fighting whilst burning to death etc etc.

I watched a decent polish war film the other day called Miasta '44. Some superb action in it.

Yeah, the Russian WW2 flicks look great, but their propagandistic messages are like films actually produced during WW2!

Their recent Stalingrad flick was terrible. The trailers were all kinds of awesome but the end result was silly laughable crap.

It's the Stalingrad film I was thinking of when mentioning still fighting when burning to death. The Brest fortress film is abit better but again the Germans are portrayed as being useless.

As I mentioned in another post the polish film Miasto'44 is well worth watching.

I used to think the same thing about the Russian films but then I read a review of them and it pointed out the unrealistic Allied films that made the Germans look crap and useless. So its only fair that the Russian make the same crappy films we did just 50 years later. I am sure we can compile a long list of them but here are a few

^^One of Our Aircraft is Missing. Of course, it was actually made in 1944, so the propaganda is over the top to the point of hilarity.

Still wish it wasn't so. As they do do great action scenes.

Dam Busters? I thought that was a great film. I don't think it fits in with the others as portraying the Germans as buffoons. I don't recall any German characters appearing in the film at all TBH.

I did try and watch a new Russian film called White Tiger but just couldn't get through it as the story was painfully bad. The tanks looked fantastic but the plot was absurd and not in a fun way.

I was thinking of Dam Busters as a bit more on the uber patriotic side of things. I admit my view of it is a bit colored since my mother and family live in a village near to the Eder See and they were there for the Operation Chastise. They remember it a bit different from the film!

I was thinking along the same lines with BotB. I don't recall the Germans being all that inept.
