Question for WitP:AE players. I dabbled in the original WitP but found the processing time for a game turn to drag on forever. Maybe there were settings that would have lowered the time but if so I was unaware of them. Is it the same with the AE edition or are there settings that make the wait-time less onerous? It's on sale so I'm thinking about getting it.

I'd like to see you aboard but answering the question honestly I don't believe anything had been done with the upgrade to reduce time spent on turns. In WITP they had automation for theatres (or areas) that hasn't found its way into AE.

I always thought once you got past the first few months and settled in turns were less time consuming but I'll add if you struggled with WITP turn times AE will frustrate you the same if not more.

Best of luck choosing!

BBF...thanks for the reply. I wasn't frustrated by the time it took for me to process my turn...it was the wait while the AI processed the Japanese turn (I was playing as the USA). It just seemed to go on forever.

Hi Rayfer, hitting the ESC key will speed up the event and advance to the next. In settings you have options to process the turn faster as well.

Fields of Glory was to be taken to engine 2.0 shortly after Historicon two years ago.  P&S, given the capable handling of RBS, is coming along nicely but the really depressing thing is that only the sound of crickets is heard on both the upgrade to FoG and the notional release of FoG: Napoleonics.  I enjoyed FoG MP immensely, but have largely left it behind in favor of other pursuits.  At this point, I honestly wouldn't touch it absent a firm comment from Slitherine re: 2.0 and the trajectory of the entire series.

This sale is a grim reminder of just how much of Matrix's stuff I buy nigh-reflexively.  The only things that I don't have that I'm sort of noodling about are Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich and the CMANO expansion.

Much as was the case for Empires in Arms -- and while I never wish harm on any actual person -- WiF should die in a fire.

I'd very much like to see a Pike & Shot (FOG ruleset) game with the same Classical periods covered in FOG.

I'm not sure if FOG 2.0 is going to materialize at this point, so maybe it's time to start wishing forward.

That's pretty much where I've ended up with this. I think the problem with P&S for classical periods is that it's based on an engine that Slitherine has ended all development for, though I suppose it could transition to whatever engine BA2 is using.

Any opinions on crown of glory emperors edition. I know it runs in a fixed res. Does it run on Win7? Hows the AI? Any other opinions on the game welcomed.
