I guess we're going to see it on Tuesday 29th.  I would've preferred to see Spectre but I think we're a bit too late for that one.  Besides, all my friends are getting annoyed that they still can't discuss it in front of me...

Amazed I've avoided spoilers so far.

Well, at least it's on the same island right? Taking a ferry boat or commuter plane just to see a movie would certainly elevate you to the ranks of Uberfan.

Yup, I'm a huge Footrot Flats fan. The movie was great too.

I'm betting there's some fans that have done just that. It would be awesome to watch on one of those screens.

Just got back from seeing Star Wars.  Anyone want to know how it was?

I'll say the same thing to you that I said to Tuna a minute ago, if you want a Star Wars movie, you are going to get a Star Wars movie.

I talked to my ex on the phone today (we're still close friends).  She and her gal pal (both fellow geeks) went and saw the movie yesterday.  Like myself, both are pretty much purists (i.e., the god-awful prequels don't even exist)...and they liked it well enough that they're planning to go see it a second time tomorrow. 

I was gob-smacked, as my ex *never* goes to see a film multiple times in the theater.  So for her to do so tells me that this probably actually is good.  For the first time, I truly begin to hope...

I have to say I really liked it. Jar Jar Abrams should stick to the Star Wars universe. It wasn't great but it was really good. Looking forward to the next one. I'm glad I didn't know anything going in. To those of you who have yet to see it, avoid any information you can about it!

If someone were to explain to you the plot, you'd probably be under-whelmed by it. The movie's strength is in it's presentation of the plot that's not so different from any of the 4-6 episodes. It reminds me of Guardians of the Galaxy in that it's the same basic plot as all the other Marvel movies but in a different setting and with characters that you like immediately and want to see them win-out in the end. And they do, but at what cost and how? I left the theater thinking, "Finally, they made one right again".

you don't need an IMAX .. you live in an IMAX (landscape)  O0 
(or so me thinks from the other side of the planet and knowing NZ only from film-sets and nature documentary)

i just saw the movie ...and its worth the money, closer to 4,5,6  then to 1,2,3  which is good.
but when i left the cinema i felt terrible old and a little depressed  ...like Yoda in his exile before he died
its hard to explain, its like visiting a city where you once have studied some 40 years ago, and visit some old restaurants and bars there, and the businesses are still there and have the same decoration, and they offer the same food at a first glance .... but the dishes taste some how different.

its like you tell someone who have never seen any sports you like soccer, football, and rugby and he creates a new ball-sport for you to watch which has a mix of soccer, football and rugby rules  ...the game is watchable but its neither soccer, football or rugby.
and while you watch you realize:  Ah, this is that soccer element reused... Ah, and this is a homage to rugby,  and so on...
hard to explain without spoilers.     
Don't get me wrong that new ball-game is a watchable fighting masculine sport ! ...and far from a possible synchronized swimming ordeal ...to use the sports metaphor

I saw this in IMAX and it was my first IMAX movie. I have to say I wasn't impressed. I didn't see anything different from a regular theater. The screen might have been larger but that was it. Maybe it wasn't really an IMAX movie?

Couldn't you get the same effect scaled down by getting a nice home theater projector and stereo and watching the movie on your living room wall at 125 inches across?
