When the night is finally over and the light is born anew on tomorrow's morning we who practice the Cultus Deorum Romanorum/Religio Romana celebrate Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, the Birth of the Unconquered Sun, the rising sun who dispels the forces of evil. It was such an important festival in the Imperium Romanum that even the Christians took part in it:

Quote"It was a custom of the Pagans to celebrate on the same 25 December the birthday of the Sun, at which they kindled lights in token of festivity. In these solemnities and revelries the Christians also took part. Accordingly when the doctors of the Church perceived that the Christians had a leaning to this festival, they took counsel and resolved that the true Nativity should be solemnized on that day."

So, as was the custom in Rome let this holy feast be one that we can all enjoy so that the New Light shines for us all no matter what Gods we pray to - I wish you all a great Winter Solstice festival, a Merry Christmas, a Happy Yule or just a good time with friends & family, whatever your tradition is to celebrate this time of the year.
