oh cr*p! Always loved the Eagles. Got to see them once years and years ago when we lived in Illinois. RIP Glenn :(

To me, a lot of his solo career sounded disposably formulaic. Some of the best Eagles tunes were the ones that never made the radio, like Those Shoes or King of Hollywood or Bitter Creek or Midnight Flyer. Go pull out the old albums, skip the radio hits, and see what you think. There's some great songwriting on there.

Good reviews and relatively inexpensive, though it'll probably be months before I can get one. Anyway, the point being, I like to browse the vinyl at Half Price Books, even though I don't have a record player, just to see what's there. I've seen a few Eagles albums, so if I get this thing, I might buy a few. Sure, I could get MP3s, but I'd rather wait, for some strange reason.

I'm with B_C on this, not an Eagles fan and LOATHE Hotel California. But Glenn and the boys certainly had "it" and made a boatload of music, alot of it good. And Those Shoes happens to be my favorite Eagles song. Heard the intro to it on one of Dan LeBatard's rejoins this morning.

When I was young I figured that the song was about a coven of glammy horror-movie-style witches and satanists but now I think it was a critique of the 70's music business/lifestyle.

Not all that that different I guess...

I was looking for a few songs for Bayonet Jr on iTunes, and looked at the "Top Songs" chart for a minute. In the top 200 tunes on iTunes sales right now, there are 12 Eagles songs (incl 2 diff versions of Hotel California), and another 4 Glenn Frey Songs.

Funny how that happens. A bunch of Bowie CDs are sold out on Amazon right now. When they are back in stock I doubt it will be at their original price point.
