It is wonderful stuff if you don't need to shovel it or drive in it. Both items on my list of things not to have to do when I retire.

What is this 'retire' thing of which you speak? Some kind of afterlife you go to when they find you cold and stiff on what then becomes your last day at work?

We only have about 4-5 inches but boy are the roads slippery. Had to drive down to the in laws about a mile away and was sliding all over the place in the one remaining Subaru. Once I got there (in laws are wintering in Hawaii) I decided I was not in the mood for the noise of the snow thrower and used the shovel to clear their driveway instead. I am a dummy.

Retire or expire. Both will have the same effect on my attitude about snow. All I know now is I am enjoying my location in the Great Plains. I do know a lot of folks back east, though.

Why would you shovel their driveway if they're in Hawaii? Speaking of Hawaii, isn't that where Toonces lives? What's with the snow pics?

We use their house all the time. So I clear the driveway and help the neighbors if needed.

I used the shovel because the blower is really noisy and after being in the house with the family the whole day, I just wanted some peace.

Toonces was transferred to Rhode Island some time back.

@bbmike -- I'm west of you.  We're over in Fauquier County.  Here's a few snaps from this morning...


@Staggerwing -- the snow here seems to be pretty dry, so lots of blowing drifting snow.  Thats a good thing I think, since the trees are mostly clear and the power is still on even with the blustery winds.

Steve, what in the world is that snow to the right in the second pic drifted on? That's a bizarre looking snowdrift.

Been watching the news and it looks dreadful, so stay safe all you grogs so effected. Its set to hit the west coast of the UK on Tuesday and Wednesday, but as rain rather than snow, so that mean a lot more flooding for area's that have already been hard hit.
