The paper on the cardboard bits kept dropping tiny flakes in this first play.  Seeing it on my game mat makes my OCD nuts.   

Hopefully it's all shed after my first game.

We call those "canhardlys".... "can hardly" see them....

These were different.  They were a bit larger than just the normal die-cut slivers from cardboard counters. 

They were brighter white.  Shorter & fatter too. 


Must be purged!

On my table right now is this odd duck- Strageto Waterloo.  Its a strange hoge-poge of ideas and I'm not at all sure it works as a game.  It's most certainly not a simulation, and I wouldnt call it a wargame either.  Right now I still sifting through the (horribly written) rules, but hope to give it a shot this weekend.

Nahh, I use this these days. Works great!

I try and trim counters with an edged weapon that is period appropriate. If it's Ancients, I'll use a falcata. Japanese, one of my katanas. Renaissance gets the longsword, English Civil War the mortuary sword. For WW2 I use a pair of bayonets, either Allied or German...unless it's PTO and then a katana again, of course...


Ah, who am I kidding? I punch 'em out with my thumbs and then gnaw the corners off with my teeth.

I'm alternating between Lord of the Rings Card Game and Conflict of Heroes ATB + Solo Edition.   They are both addicting and fantastic solo.

I tried that once but it didn't go so well.  My overactive salivary glands tend to drench the counters to the point of warpage.   :(

One of these games is worth $8...the other is worth $150...or more...

I like them both, but would not pay anything close to the latter sum for either.  Or both, for that matter.





All this SW boardgaming reminds me, though, that the time has come to revisit the Queen's Gambit.
