This is free on Steam this weekend, and apparently if you download it, you get to keep it.

It's a bit of a MOBA style game, but with Capital starships.

Just give it a bit of a spin, and its not bad. Sometimes fights get into a war of attrition, but if you work together, and jump in at the appropriate points.. you can draw a win from it.

Worth getting for free, just to see the lovely pew pew pew battles, feeling the weight of moving a lumbering armada and spinning up your boost drives to get to a mining platform before the next wave of enemy ships warp in on your ass.

Manage to play enough games in the Titan Sentinel support class ship to upgrade to the Protector, a repair and shielding support ship with quite a nippy set of engines on it.. I love my Titan Protector. :)

You do know that you can get a refund on any Steam game you've owned less than 2 weeks and played less than 2 hours, right?  :)

The Multiplayer is very anonymous, and the community doesn't seem that hostile - compared with some of the normal MOBA's. But the key difference with this title is that it doesn't really feel like a normal MOBA. It's slow paced, huge battleships, having to co-operate together. There's not really the option to go it lone wolf and stay alive very long. Small fleets are the order of the day. And it does fill a space game niche, where Nexus left. There are just not enough large space battleship games out there. Not ones this accessible.

I get it, sometimes competitive multiplayer is a bitch. But you are missing out on some exhilarating gameplay, even if its only until the playing community gets its heads around the tricks and gamey niches that overpower mere normal humans.. :)

They had a free weekend in the past month.  So you keep it.

The game will be free-to-play once it's released IIRC.  The purchase packages are just pre-order bonuses + beta access.

So... this was released to the public, free-to-play, this past weekend.

I've only done the tutorial, a co-op mission, and a single PvP thus far.  Need to put more time in before passing judgement.

The main draw, IMO, is how each vessel plays differently.  Each one has a different set of weapons & utility abilities. 

There also isn't any tiered system, and the equipment upgrades are just trade-offs for more specialization.  In other words, it's all supposed to be balanced, so you don't have to worry about getting screwed by matchmaking software forcing you to play against opposing players with better equipment.

Having MOBA victory mechanics, it's all about pushing & capping lanes, not so much who gets the most kills/dmg.
