On a serious note: it'd be pretty interesting to see how they isolated this particular observation especially given the amount of time the event is theorized to have happen in and years ago.  A fraction of a second, billions of years ago.

Read the press release I attached up above. It explains how it was done really well. Short version = lasers and shit.
