At least as far as Disciples 3: Resurrection is concerned, the Kalypso Launcher must be running before you can play.

I railed against Steam for years before finally giving in, and it's still the last place I look when buying a game, but if getting LoP there means not having to put up with Kalypso crap then I'm in.  I'll be grateful for any confirmation when you chaps buy the game! :D

Tell me about it.  I barely seem to manage, and I'm single with no kids!  I can't even imagine how you husbands & fathers pull it off!

I sincerely hope not!  Even setting aside what my personal disappointment would be, the genre has already suffered enough from bad releases of major titles like Master of Orion 3 and Sword of the Stars 2.

Heh.  If I was single gaming is all I would do!  With two young kids, I'm lucky to get in an hour an evening, and that includes weekends.

I have insomnia and am an early riser -between 3-4AM, typically, during the week. My wife gets up a 5:30, so I can get in an hour or so before she does.  Since I work from home I can get in an hour after she leaves and an hour before she gets home.  She naps on the weekend, so I can get 2-3 hours Saturday and Sunday afternoons if we have nothing planned

After kids go to bed, Wifey puts on some type of kitchen improvement/house hunting/design challenge show....and I just slinking into the office for some gaming. We are both happy. After 11 years of marraige, you realise its ok to not always do stuff together.

Sometimes you have to put some quality time in the bank for future withdrawals so I can't get away with it every night...but 3-4 a week.

Unusually, at the moment my lady is on a Fallout 3 binge on the Xbox, so I get a bit more time in the evenings.  However, after spending it all reading and talking about games, I'm still left with no more than an hour to actually play any.  I suck.

I feel your pain, I'm in exactly the same boat. 3 kids under 3 doesn't leave much time..

Is anyone giving it a go right now?
I've played it for a few minutes just to check the menus and options.

So far I've noticed a very annoying lack of tooltips or explanations of what various options do, Skirmish only allowing 2 players (you and an AI), no Local Co-Op or MP whatsoever (contrary to what Steam advertised), and no manual either to help negate the lack of in-game information.

The combat in the trailers looked like standard-issue RTS fare.  Is that what it is?

ITs not looking good guys.  Supposedly released with a lot of game breaking bugs, ie. broken save/load system.  Also, single-player turns are actually timed!!!  i hear this "feature" is being removed in the first patch that is already complete.

The devs seem to be supporting it though, so stay tuned.
