Sure there is. die, or quit. Plenty of choices ;)

So I couldn't resist and picked this up... only to quickly confirm that, indeed, the Dark Souls universe is beyond me.

The first boss fight -- who you encounter like only 20 minutes into the game, if that -- just decimated me. I'm hopelessly outmatched.

I was also like, "So, where's the menu / button that opens the Map?"  (I can hear your Dark Souls veterans laughing from here...)

Will be submitting for a refund later today...

I tried with Dark Souls II but felt that I had enough punishment in other areas of my life that I didn't need it this bad in a game.

Sorry it didn't work out for you...

I am clearly the type of player Dark Souls intends to weed out -- slow reflexes, terrible situational awareness, easily rattled, lacking in perseverance...

The atmosphere is definitely cool, but I'm not hard-core enough to stick this one out.

Maybe I should try to actually put some time into Witcher III now instead.....

I would love to know of an RPG with a similar world with a more forgiving philosophy if there is one.

I hate that I'm agreeing with Jarhead so much lately, but once again I am firmly in his camp on this one.  I simply cannot get into these games, and frankly, I just don't need this kind of stress in my life.  The idea of playing a fight over and over to find the "trick" does nothing for me and that seems to be a recurring theme.

Which is too bad because I really want to play these games, but I simply do not have the ability to do this kind of stuff anymore- if I ever could.

Now then, if there was a sissy mode I'd be all over this, something where mashing the button could win a fight.  I really want to enjoy the story.

I guess it's gonna have to be a Youtube walkthrough for me...I'll watch someone else beat the game and live vicariously through them.

That's a good idea, this Youtube playthrough has been pretty good to watch:

I've only watched up to the point I've got through in my game so far, his insights on the lore and the fights have been pretty interesting and helpful for a newbie like me.

Well if you buy a Souls game and you never played a game of the series before, then it's not surprising that you will have to face something new and beyond your normal game experiences. What I mean is, you surely have to give yourself more time than 20 minutes...the game is demanding and rewarding - because it's more demanding than what you usually play these days. You can not let the combat procedures sink in in 20 minutes...and you don't need a map for that. So no I'm not laughing but rather shaking my head... ::)

Always appreciate being condescended to -- thanks man.

Anyway, the game wasn't for me. End of story.

I've never been a fan of the Try This, Die; Try That, Die genre.

You are welcome. Seriously, you don't have to be so peevish about it. First you say you trust the opinion of the community on this game and then you are in the sulks when someone is not understanding that you seemed to expect to master a game in 20 minutes that you have no experience with although you heard about the fact it is a bit more demanding than the casual stuff?  ???

Whatever, try Bloodborne, much easier than the Souls games but similar spooky setting...

Safe to say I'm not the one coming across as peevish in this little exchange, which in any event isn't really worth pursuing further.
