Anyone have any experience with their stuff? Been playing lots of SASL which is not a game to relax by so I'm looking for something lite in the wargaming department that is also solo. Looking at their site I can see myself redoing most of the counters and probably the maps if the game are at least functional and fun.

I picked up Thunder Ridge, printed some stuff off.  Still haven't got around to playing it, which is nothing unusual regarding my game collections.

Did give the rules a quick read, though.  That one (and the aerial WWI game using similar rules) plays a bit like DVG's Leader series.  But with more specific spatial movement due to the hex map.  My biggest concern was the AA defenses remaining generally unchanged, on the map, over time, but I haven't played it yet to see how everything plays out in tandem.  The WWI game may be more varied in that area, compared the the Vietnam one I own; not sure.

There looks to be at least two other types of solitaire systems he created, used in various historical settings & themes.  There is some kind of RPG-Strategy group of them which has piqued my interest a bit.  There is also some small (modern?) unit or special forces type too.  Not familiar with that either.

Obviously the most noticeable weak point is the artwork.  At least a few of these would probably be a bit popular with some fancy manufactured material, proofreading, and refinement via much play-testing.  I recall coming across an editing mistake or two in the rules but they were pretty straightforward and made sense, overall.

IIRC, PanzersEast owns a few of the Berserker solitaire P&P games, and posted some redone graphics for some.  He probably has more knowledge of them than I.

Wait...you've been playing a lot of SASL???  That's some heavy stuff man.  I'd be most interested to hear about your thoughts on that.  I've read the rules a few times and have wanted to fire up a SASL campaign but it's quite intense and thus I've shied away from it.  What do you think of it?

I love it. My ASL rules knowledge is pretty weak in a lot of places so it gives me time to read through them as things come up. Probably miss some stuff or play it wrong but I figure its all about having fun.  Plus, it allows me to play around with a lot of 'what if' stuff. Currently gearing up to play a hypothetical US invasion of Mexico which I titled "A weekend in Mexico".   ;D Takes place in Northern Mexico, late January and I am planning it being 5 missions long (honestly though, only the 1st 2 are written up in any kind of format). Mission #1 will be "ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE" and takes place near Lajitas, Mexico. It's a custom mission based off the SASL River Assault Mission.

Weak knowledge of ASL rules yet enjoys playing SASL...that is priceless.

I own a version 1 copy of SASL and have a strong desire to try it. Reading those SASL rules just sucks the moisture out of my brain though. Will have to make a serious attempt at it one of these days as I've heard it is a very different experience from 2-player ASL...plus many positive reviews.

I used to always forget the 1 MP to start a vehicle before moving them, unless in motion already, but to fix that over the years I trained myself to make 'vroom', 'vroom' sounds in my head whenever I go to move one. Every once in a while when I am playing, the actual noises come out and if my wife is near the doorway outside the mancave door I hear stuff like "What the hell are you doing in there now?". When I think about it, its pretty embarrassing sometimes, but it works. If only some of the other rules could be so easily remembered I'd be a pro.   :coolsmiley:
