Nice work. But being top down and not able to show correct facing is confusing.  At least for side view, it is more manageable for me.

+1.  I have to agree with Jomni - I'd find that easier with the vehicles too. There's no doubting that you've done some really nice work. I love the new infantry counters. :smitten:

To each their own. I don't really see the stock game being any easier to use or looking better  ;)

I've been playing a fair bit of the WWI SB game lately, and there are no mods for that game. I find the stock counter graphics so unappealing I've just turned on NATO symbols.


I don't find the top down view any more confusing than the side views. Neither counter usually faces the direction the unit is facing. Certainly these modded counters are at least much cleaner and clearer!

I started a FWW top down mod, but the infantry with gas masks is were I stopped. Too tough to mod units with them and w/o them  :(

Vehicles are easy  ;)

Well you're right. Functionally there is little difference, just a difference in presentation. I think it's probably the usual gut reaction to change where you're not upset with what you've already got. ;) Had you done a side on profile, rather than an overhead profile, I probably wouldn't even have blinked, other to comment on the fact I like your art style. That said, I have no such hesitation with your infantry, they're great and I love 'em.

I had one person ask me why the vehicles face west (left) and why not Have the Axis face one way and the Allied side the other. This way they would face each other. Course not all scenarios have Axis on the same side of the screen or some are vertical (up and down) the screen  :2funny:

You make a good point about the different directions a side deploys from in different scenarios.

Clearly you no one told you we're a hard audience to please, and we're never satisfied... :2funny:  ;)

So my battle buddy Dan gave me a great idea for top down infantry in WWI for gas masks on and off.

I think the little image of a gas mask will work!  :)
