Slitherine claims this is the last major free update.

Fixed it for you.

I started the campaign last night but it didn't tell me a whole lot since, like most campaigns in strategy games, it starts you off with only a handful of units available and frows from there.  So this morning I started a skirmish match on a middle-sized map against 2 AI's on Normal difficulty.

I have to admit, it's come a long way since I last played it.  Modules can be played to bases that do things like increase movement range or give extra AP's.  Aircraft are available for attacks or recon, and there are stealthy assassins that can be played.  I still miss R&D and workshops, but that's mitigated by the fact that every unit has at least one special ability (usually more), terrain matters, and there are lots of interesting places on the map that generate bonus benefits (think Civ's "goody huts").  I didn't see the AI doing anything really dumb, and it was smart enough to take advantage of my stupid mistake of leaving a resource collector on the front lines ungarrisoned and with a plane hangered inside.

Still only 2 factions, but as I said before I would expect more as DLC.  Armageddon Empires is still the deeper game, but I'm not sure I would call it "better" thanks to the archaic interface and fixed resolution.

$25 is a reasonable price, and if it sounds like this is your cup of meat, I say give it a shot.

So now that people actually played it,
can anyone say if it has hotseat mode?
