So they seemed okay with this until they saw the crowdfunding money, then demanded compensation for "damages".

Can't say I'm all that surprised when a large amount of monetary donations became a thing.

If Paramount had any sense they would have funded this idea from the start and passed on the whole Jar Jar thing.

So CBS/Paramount/Viacom can't figure out how to do decent Trek on their own and now are going to kill a fan attempt to do it. They can kiss my hairy Klingon ass.

This reminds me of the aircraft companies getting their panties in a bunch when flight sim devs want to include certain aircraft in a sim and they want "compensation" for using their products in a game. It is just being pissy and this is where I want to line up all the lawyers and smack them upside the head. The big companies know indie film makers and flight sim devs don't have the high priced legal staff to fight this sort of crap.

Yeah, I wish they'd just let them make the damn thing. Paramount is generating such ill will at this point that I will actively avoid the new film and tv series.
