I've just started a new game as Al-Rashid, Arabia to focus on merchant networks. My immediate neighbours are Haile Selassie (Ethiopia), which looks a good option - and is expanding rapidly, and Elizabeth of England. Portugal does appear a good one to play - I've had them as opponents and they seem to last well.
The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own. Aldous Huxley

On a good day, our legislature has the prestige of a drunk urinating on a wall at 4am and getting most of it on his shoe. On a good day  ::) Steelgrave

It's kind of silly to investigate whether or not a Clinton is lying. That's sort of like investigating why the sky is blue. Banzai_Cat

I've played Ethiopia several times and absolutely loved it each time. They are historically delicious.

In response to the earlier noted problems, I have had none, including upgrading to Win 10 with no issues.

Now in my third game with Civ 5 playing Prince level.  Early on with Napoleon so no feedback as yet...except that I am starting on the arctic circle with lots of snow, ice and never say die barbarians who just won't go away.  Sometimes random sucks.

Previously played:

Elizabeth- As you might expect, naval power and commerce is the strength, so make sure you get at least one coastal city early on.

Morocco- those dudes pile up gold faster than leprechauns when you develop trade routes.  Need to try that one again.

They do kick butt. My empire is in their hands now, and I'm starting a new game.

I had three cities, and three armies and was concentrating on building up my civilisation. I was starting to lose gold on my treasury for support. They had three cities, but still managed to start their offensive with 10 armies, yet were developing their lands nicely as well! Playing on Prince.

I've just restarted with al-Rashid, but this time I was wiped out early on by raging barbarians...something is telling me I suck at this game! :-[

LOL! We should play a multi-player game, and be allies. ;D Better still, maybe we should get Gus and Hancock in as well to show us how it's done.

Not sure I could " show you how it's done" as I'm not exactly sure what the hell I'm doing half the time.  But MP would be fun.  Tuna has Civ 5 as well, he's the resident expert I guess.

I'd have to buy the game first - I've been fighting MD off about buying Civ IV for ages, let alone Civ V

Well, it's an idea if you, Hancock, and Gus fancy a game. I've never played it MP and suck so far at SP, but what the hell... I have no problem with anyone else joining the game, and especially Tuna if he's that good. I might learn something off him.

As long as everyone's turns here are shorter than the biblical ones MD takes in Civ IV or Warlock, then we can do this.

I watched a bit of cheese develop an advanced culture and achieve space flight while waiting for an MD move in Warlock.........

Now that is funny! :2funny:

So, are we doing this?

I'll need to consult my financial advisor after the AOP payout at the end of the month :-)

Weekends are better for me. As far as consultations I don't need to consult with anyone since I have no finances.
