Seriously...I cannot believe she is dead.  What a shame.  A perfect example how drugs can bring even the brightest star crashing to the ground.

I was looking but never saw her. Was she in Nebraska?

I saw the news this morning, but it really looks like her pill/drug addiction finally got the best of her.

One other question, after all she went through with the father, why the hell did she name her daughter Bobbi Brown?

I read that even her golden voice was gone and that she hadn't been able to hit the high notes....ummm, no pun intended, I swear....for years. Sad. Once again, someone that the rest of us think has everything seems to have nothing when it counts most.

Drugs and booze don't give two shits about talent, potental or looks.

This was sad news. She fell off the radar to me after The Bodyguard, I was unaware of her substance issues.

Her voice has been going through my head all day. RIP.

Yeah, it's just unbelievable that she's gone.

She was a part of my childhood as my Mom and sister loved her. Still, don't like to see anyone go like this.

+3 on the thread title.

When I was living in Atlanta we used to go to a restaurant where she reportedly sometimes hung out.

Sure enough one night she rolled in and hung around the bar for a while. As we left there were a couple of shady looking tough guys who were doing a decent imitation of drug dealers in the parking lot who must have been her bodyguards.

I didn't get a good look at her and certainly didn't recognize her. My wife did, and thought she didn't look very good. And that was like ten years ago.

Must have been a classy joint.  ;)

Ha!  Less and more so than you might think.

Food is tasty. Prices moderately high but not outrageous. We used to go there for a night out. It was just bad luck she happened to hang there.

The truth is that it really isn't that surprising, but it's still incredibly sad. I've known a few people who had serious, serious drug problems...luckily they got some help and cleaned up...but it's a nasty situation.

Not that we're going on and on about, but this really sums up my thinking re: media fixation on Whitney.
