This is worse than I thought. I didn't realize they were killing every single fan made Trek out there.

I wonder if the Axanar writers could create some kind of 'wiki page' style fanfic thing that would fill in some of the stuff they will have to cut from the film to hit the 30 minutes-only mark.

So, CBS/Paramount could have sat back, gotten a percentage of the profits for the movie, maybe even helped with distribution and promotion, and raked in the cash.  In stead, they've decided to punish someone for making a better Star Trek movie than they do.

Perhaps the guys running the project didn't want the gorilla to take over their baby?  Could be a factor.   I'd certainly be concerned about Paramount changing changing it. 

It's probably just as simple as Paramount seeing the backer $$ and wanting a piece of any future such pie without doing anything.
