General Steam Sale Madness

I am stunned by my actions, especially since I am an impulse buyer.....but haven't picked up anything within this sale yet:(  Nothing has blown me away yet, even though some very good prices.  Anybody else not pickup anything or is it just me?

I just realized this today as well.  I've picked up a few DLC but no games yet.  I am not sure if its just me being cheap waiting for the best possible price or that fact that if I buy something who knows if and when I'll ever play it.  I've got plenty of games now vying for my attention.

That is how I kind of feel....great to pick up a ton of games, but recently none holding my attention and get uninstalled very quickly.....not sure if I will be able to hold out the entire sale, but in past sales my cart would be fully loaded:)

Your experience is similar to mine. I have picked up two game thus far (Anno 2070 and Stronghold 3) but nothing has really grabbed me. I also have had a hard time sticking with games recently; I just jump from game to game hoping something holds my attention but other than CIV nothing has.

So far the only two things I am thinking about buying are Kohan Warchest for $4.99 and Railroad Tycoon II Platinum for $2.49.

I hadn't bought anything either until today.  Picked up Skyrim and just now the Take On Helicopters bundle.  Guess its just a matter of timing and what you want....

How is Stronghold 3?  I've been thinking about it but I've heard to many bad reviews.

Don't know. I have not even had a chance to download it yet but I thought the price was right ($13 for the gold edition). I know it was in bad shape when released but they have had ten patches and when considering that the Gold edition seems to have a lot of campaigns/scenarios (economic missions, military missions and siege missions) - I thought I would give it a shot.

Ended up getting Spec Ops : The Line, CoD : Black Ops and Binary Domain as well as Sniper Elite 2. I guess I'm stocked up on shooters now.  ;D

Oh man, Dungeon Siege bundle is a must buy for me at 7 and a half clams.  I already have DS1 (two copies) and DS2, but it's worth buying the bundle to get DS3 and the other two all inside my Steam shell and not have to worry about disks anymore.  I mean, gosh, I spent more money than that on lunch at Popeyes today!

Edit, ok, you have to click on one and it shows the bundle but it's 17.49, not 7.49.  Hmmmm, that $10 extra gives me pause.  That's like two lunches at Popeyes.

I bought L.A. Noire, which is a bad port that doesn't work (that will teach me to read only reviews and being optimistic about games actually functioning properly, instead of checking forums to see that like many games in recent years, the game has serious issues), so I threw away 10 euro's. Not that bad, obviously, but annoying. I turned away from more mainstream games because of all the DRM schemes and poor release state and was hoping I might be drawn back into the fold temporarily, but a game that doesn't get beyond the first loading screen (still on the desktop) is a new all-time low.

Back to wargames.

I do hope you guys are enjoying what you've bought. I've bought/played so many more mainstream games in the past that I guess I'm also just a bit saturated when it comes to mainstream gaming.

I've already bought everything I wanted on those sales.

My only purchases have been Arma II and Orcs Must Die 2, neither of which was on super sale.

I've been tempted on a couple of others but my dance card is pretty full. Getting some of those older games is going to be a distraction from work. I'm sure eventually they'll tempt me with something, but so far it just isn't there for me.

I am in the same boat, most of the ones I would want to get I already paid full price for. >:(
