The rules for the Smurf War were actually pretty good if cookie-cutter square-based tactical combat.  As I said, these folks are into this for reasons I leave to them with all my blessings.

Re: the fairy game, I bless all those people who provide fun, interactive games for all those kids.  I had an experience just recently where, for the first time, it was made politely clear my son was not welcome.  I absolutely get where the folks were coming from, but I am very surprised by how bothered by it I am.  While trying to steer well wide of the charge of sexism that might visit me were I to be over-broad here, it was striking that the game was much more narrative and RPG-like than similar "cartoon" tactical games I've seen played by boys.  Great stuff in either event.
