...so far, just grabbed HoI4 from GMG (yeah, I know, not a Steam sale), but it was a better deal due to their weekend sale (23% off).  Getting very close to getting Stellaris.  Just hoping my old CPU (2.66GHz :() can hold up...

Steve - I can run both Stellaris and HOI4 and I'm on a I5-750 (2.66GHz cpu) too.

You shouldn't have too much of an issue...vid card is another story though.

There is a notable difference between an i5 CPU rated for 2.66Ghz compared to some old chip, such as a Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz from ten years ago.

Be advised; the core speeds haven't been directly indicative of performance for awhile now.

That is true, however without knowing what CPU model he is running I can only compare clock speeds.

Well, when I said old, I meant old.  My 2.66GHZ CPU is a Core2Quad 9450.  I have 8GB RAM and an nVidia 750GTi w/2GB VRAM, so HoI4 runs (so far)...

I am as such corrected. I guess it's a testament to how well that Intel built those 750's that I will be handing it down to a box I'm building primarily for the wife and kids to use once I'm ready to upgrade to new hotness

No damage yet as that's shocking for me.

But I did buy Rome 2: Total War last night and installed it. Played it for about 70 minutes and just didn't like what the game was like. The atrocious anti-aliasing in Rome2 is just awful and I even tried SweetFX and nVidia Inspector to no avail. The graphics without any sort of decent anti-aliasing was a real turn off to me. So I refunded it. I'm surprised that my aging i7-920 at 4 Ghz with a GTX 970 handled the game very well though with graphics cranked almost right up.

Thinking about getting Attila now as CA added anti-aliasing options that Rome 2 lacks.

DO IT
I just bought and installed Attila and I'm liking it so far. My old PC runs it pretty good with most everything graphic-wise cranked right up. Still have another hour to play with it until the refund limit is reached, but it's looking like a keeper.

Nothing yet.

Eye is on Mount and Blade Warband, CK II Charlemagne, but I have been thinking about something like Witcher or Fallout 3 (my system is just tooooo weak for 4)
but I'm not sure what Fallout 3 to get. Either Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Otherwise I am thinking on grabbing DLC for Skyrim because of the new massive update coming.
