Would this work with the Up Front the Squad Leader Card Game I bought recently?

No.  Up Front doesn't use an IFT or anything like it.  Doesn't even use dice.

That's good GL.  There's an IOS app that has something similar but it also has the To Hit/To Kill charts and process as well and that (some have found) is rather useful.  The IFT is a good start if you're thinking of making a ASL program that will do several things.  Another is to add in the OBA flowchart (I have it in web-based format here:  http://garykrockover.com/ASL/OBA/) and also the Overrun flowchart.

Huh. I really need to crack the seal on it and give it a go.

I'm planning to add to it, as a side project, I had a look at the TH table earlier, but I'm not rushing it, and I may not get round to it for a while, but I do like the idea of having ASL interactive charts.

If you've never played it, you really need to give it a go.  It's one of the most brilliant designs that I've ever played.  Here's a dropbox folder with lots of goodies including some learning play-aids...the RAW aren't the easiest to grok:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6g21fwzyd7m0jle/AADK_nSohbEhZH4iPeDajhWaa?dl=0

GJK,

Thank you so much for the Up Front dropbox folder link. I just happened to open this thread out of curiosity and stumbled upon your post with the link.
I downloaded the Up Front Help file a few years back, but I had no idea there were many more streamlined rule files, aids, and scenarios for the game out there now. I own an original copy of the game with the expansions, and unfortunately since I'm in school full-time right now, I can't devote any time to playing the game. I barely have enough time to play any of my computer games, and that is only in short spurts.
However, I won't be in school forever, so these Up Front files will come in handy at a later date when I have time to play the game and can access them from my hard drive.

 new version with more charts

TH chart works like the IFT, but TK charts only have dice and DRM result, the cross ref isn't suitable, but I like the TH chart as you can roll then cross ref the result at any range, My fav though is the IFT

Yup, you bet.  I had the game for a long time and it sat on my shelf because reading the original rules was as exciting (to me) as reading the evolutionary process of a slugworm but then I came across a project that Glen Oberhauser started and that was to simplify the rulebook (plain language speak the thing).  His last version is in there (see: UpFront_Simple_0.96.pdf).  Be wary though, I don't think it's 101% absolutely accurate but it will get you to the point that you can play the game (it did for me) - if you have any "official" rules questions though, you'll want to consult the actual rulebook.

Also in there is the "3rd Edition" which is the proposed rules from the failed Kickstarter (Kickraping) project.  Those are only in there for reference- you don't want to actually use those unless you and your opponent agree to do so.

+1, thanks GJK! That should motivate me to dive in. I'll still need one of those giant desktop magnifiers to read the tiny cards though.  :P

Leaper:  You're getting there!  The TH/TK charts aren't really doing anything in your program however.  Here's a link to the IOS app that has them:

https://itunes.apple.com/no/app/asl-calculator/id986994254?mt=8

Basically, you select the target type (ITT, ATT, Area) and caliber of weapon firing and select the applicable modifiers and it will then calculate the percentage chance for your To Hit and then (I believe) the To Kill (figured for both a hull and turret hit- after you've selected the type of tank you're actually firing at).  I don't have an IOS device so I can't download it to go screen by screen for you but if you do- it's a free app.  And as an aside, I *still* need to take the time to start trying to learn BlitzMax.  You've posted great examples of using a hexgrid and doing movement...I have so many things that I'd love to try and program some day!

Mike: Magnifying glass....yeah, "readers" are a gaming standard for me these days and if it gets really bad (like reading the back side of an ASL AFV counter) then it's a magnifying glass while I have my readers on.  As long as the brain keeps working though...that's the one that has me worried.

Ok I had a nightmare of errors in th TH table I've fixed the TH tables, it now shows all results applicable to the dice and drm, its was a bad job hunting all those stats to calculate properly. You get all the results for each target type on the TH table* you just look at the correct target to see if the result hit) YOU MUST SELECT RANGE(at the top) THEN SET DRMs THEN ROLL DICE

I have not played ASL for a while so I need a refresher, but its getting better.

I'm just going to look at that link GJK thx, I'm not looking at calculating percentages, I'm just trying to cross ref charts and use dice generator, but I will think on it a bit.

its an iPhone not an ipad but I can see whats what, I'm really just making a playaide, to cross reference a result on the charts for you when you roll with the dice generator, the TK charts are not really suitable to cross ref as you have just one number on a scale easily seen, but The Dice gen and the drm with results shown gives you the number to look up on the TK charts, the TH charts are cross referenced now with full cross referencing

GJK if you want to look at the source code privately, I can email it to you, and I would really like any improvements you make, I'm winding down on it now, but maybe you could advance it maybe even shared with other of your friends, but private as possible, but I ask I get a copy of the finished program and I remain with, is that a deal? I know its hard to get into programing don't feel pressured into it, I don't mind if its not the right time, but this source code is very easy to follow along, and its short,
