All this talk about Steel Beasts convinced me to boot up Steel Armor Blaze of War this afternoon on the lappy. I am finally, FINALLY, starting to wrap me head around the UI. It only took like 3 years... ::)

Seriously, though, I just fought through the Operation Hooper campaign. I don't really understand the campaign map, but I can at least start to control my tank platoons in battle.

I think I'm going to take a break on SABOW for a bit and try some CMANO for a change of pace.

I got my new Pinball machine this week. It is an electronic simulation that plays 351 pinball games. It is amazing. The Pinball FX2 games on this machine have to be seen to be believed. Most of the simulations of classic arcade pinball games (about 290 of those) are quite good.

Trying my 10th warhammer dwarf campaign - there is a very fine balance between normal and hard made all the more complicated by my guilt at playing normal and inability to play hard

I seem to have settled into this one and am at turn 30 - have broken the back of a few Orc clans but not enough

I'm probably going to start a solo play of D&D Castle Ravenloft (the board game), for AAR purposes, once I figure out how to report it. I'm thinking of a stylized comic with humor undertones to distract from the game's story arc, though there's no getting around spoilers.

Been thinking about doing the same thing with Gears of War, Shadows of Brimstone, and/or Fortune and Glory, too. Just got Temple of Elemental Evil from the game store with my last bit of credit and that's another option as well. Maybe even the old DOOM: The Boardgame. So many choices.

Meanwhile I need to update my Silent Victory AAR, and see if my save files transfer well enough over from my old PC, for the Pool of Radiance AAR.

I played nothing but No Man's Sky this weekend...about 9 hours worth. It's definitely a loot and resource grind and I can easily see people getting burned out fairly quickly. Honestly, it's meaningless that there are 18 trillion planets in the game universe. The average player will most likely cease playing regularly after they have explored 20 to 30 of them.

The game is good, but something is definitely missing from it. Players know it, and the developer knows it. It remains to be seen how the game will be supported and updated over the next year. Hopefully the game can be elevated from just a neat concept to something worth really playing for extended periods.

I'm not burned out on it yet, so I will continue to play it for awhile, but as Star Citizen continues to get closer to the ultimate space exploration and combat game, my focus will shift. Version 2.5 is coming out soon and we are expecting planetary landings in either 2.6 or 2.7.

Just tons of overwatch. Ive been looking at this other game called Meridian squad 22. But honestly I cant play anything without formations anymore. Grog games have ruined me. I'm the fine wine douchebag of strategy.

If there's 18 trillion planets but only, say, 10,000 players online at any one time, there isn't going to be much player interactivity (if that's even something that's being pushed as a big deal in this game - I simply don't know). Hell, even if they get a million people online at the same time, that's still very low odds, unless everyone sticks to certain areas.

I'm still interested in it, but probably not for a couple of years to see where it goes and see if it goes on a big sale.

This is a single player game. Although a multiplayer component was marketed early on, the developers subsequently walked away from the claim that MMO features are included. The only player interactivity will be with respect to discoveries and naming of those discoveries. It does not seem that two players can physically meet at the same location at the same time.

Honestly, 80 bucks isnt worth collecting rocks and looking at the product of an evolutionary gangbang. Whats even the point of upgrading your weapons and ship anyway

Upgrades do have relevance. There are loosely three ways to play the game. Explorer, trader, fighter. Upgrading ships and technology permit you to fly farther and faster while hauling more loot and causing more damage in combat. There is definitely incentive to upgrade.
