In the book he tells a couple of stories about how Pryor's ego caused problems on the set. You'd never know watching them on the big screen. I think they had a love/hate relationship.

Was trying to decide which of his movies is my favorite.
Although not my all time favorite, that would be Young Frankenstein, I think people would enjoy Start the REvolution without Me.
It's really good all the way thru to the last two minutes. It was like they couldn't find a great ending, and tried too hard.
But the rest is great.

I'm going to have to watch Young Frankenstein, now.

No, I've never watched it fully from beginning to end, except as a child. I remember way back then, my mom and dad taking me to the theater because they wanted to see it. I had no idea what was going on and don't remember anything other than the initial excitement of getting to go to the movies.

I've caught bits and pieces of it over the years, enough to recognize things that people mention or joke about, but I've yet to actually see it in its entirety. I need to rectify this soon.

Me too but then I remember how sick he has been for a while. Something about his comedy and on screen persona really connected with me.

Yeah, I saw a picture of him taken a couple of years ago and it was nearly breathtaking how frail and thin he looked. But you could see from the look on his face he wasn't letting it affect him at all.

Blazing Saddles was one of the most epic comedies ever made, and like I said I REALLY enjoyed Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, See No Evil Hear No Evil, and even Willy Wonka (though the Gene movie scared the crap out of me as a little kid). I own a Blazing Saddles T-shirt that says, "Mongo Only Pawn In Game of Life," and there's one I've been wanting to buy that says "That Was Lucky...Doggone Near Lost A $400 Handcart."

While Blazing Saddles was a laugh riot from beginning to (nearly the) end, personally, I think he had some of the funniest lines and set-up lines in the entire movie.

I've felt this way about several recent passings. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's because they are people I grew up with. All I know is that the losses increasingly resonate on a personal level whether or not there is actually a personal connection.
