Sometime around 1958, almost every kid in the neighborhood had a "Buntline Special" cap gun.

I had a couple of cap guns when I was a kid. I figured out that you could unroll a roll of caps and light one side on fire to make a pint-size firecracker strip, though it frequently stalled halfway through. You could also take a needle and fold up the caps accordion-style and poke them through the center, packing them down and then wrapping them with some paper tape. Stick a match down in and you had a great mini-explosive for blowing up plastic soldiers.

Back then, if they saw a kid with a gun the cops immediately though 'Toy'. Nowadays, not so much.  :(

Yeah, now days putting a 'cap' on somebody has a whole different meaning. I remember summer nights with a good buddy, cap guns, and fireflies. I haven't seen either one of the three in years.
