Spectral (Netflix Movie)

I watched Spectral over the last few days...really excellent military/action movie with great special effects and good acting, and a storyline that's a bit different, though the situation and some engineering is a little laughable.

It's difficult to describe, though one reviewer called it "Gears of War meets Aliens," which I suppose is fairly accurate. What really struck me about this movie is the acting of the Special Forces team; usually in B-movies, Special Forces characters come across as actors trying too hard to be hardcore, whereas these guys really came across as who they were playing on screen, and that's really important for immersiveness.

In any case I recommend it if you're looking for an overall good movie to watch.

Watched it. Engineer saves world. What's not to love?! 

And the speed he troubleshoots the problem is epic--moves a few wires around to create great new weapons is amazing!

Other than the rediculous leap above overall it was pretty good--but as an engineer myself---you just got to ignore logic to believe the premises pushed here. The one that made me laugh the most was when towards the end when he's refering to the spectral camera's, "If I reverse the polarity I think I can create a spotlight to see them."  Generally speaking doing such a thing to electronic components in the least fries them and in the case of electrolitic capacitors turns them into exploding cherry bombs- which is why you wear safety googles when working on electronics.

The writer clearly was reading up on theories and came up with the plot but failed to seek any advice to how to plausably carry out said theory. And in the end why did the skeletal remains of humans turn to dust when unplugged? That was living tissue--

Still, in terms of dialouge and overall flow there was little dumbness other than the technical above and I'd give the movie at least 3 stars.
