Oh man, I remember visiting some of these weinnachtmarkten (spelling?) about 6 years ago.
I can definitely see why Islamist terrorists would target them (they're sort of a national and christian symbol, filled with pork products).

According to The Guardian:

At least nine people have been killed and many more were injured, according to German police, after a truck ploughed into a Christmas market in Berlin.

They suggested the vehicle ran into the market outside the landmark Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church on Monday evening. The reports cited police at the scene who said initial indications pointed to a terror attack.

I was waiting for this to happen...it makes the perfect target for these Muslim lunatics...many people in one place, many "kuffār" in one place, a Christian background and the maximum shock because it's the time of celebrating peace...

btw: its not a German thing ...nationality of the dead or injured is very international spread: Israel, Italy, Spain, Poland   ..and not all are identified jet and not much confirmed news on nationality of victims available

its was nothing more like a makeshift print-out preliminary voucher (and just one of his many fake IDs) not a plastic ID-card or full blown passport, and folded in the wallet. 
(you need some at least plausible preliminary ID-sheet to pass a happenstance casual ID check of some cops when on ingress to planed AoO)

(reading between the lines of all the newsfeed infos: There materialize the scenario that the already wounded Polish driver put up a last stand of resistance, when he realized that his truck suddenly left the crossing to enter the market and fought for steering control back to let his truck steer to the left, as it did, and then was shoot and stabbed on the spot with more mortal wounds ...there where reports of bloody change clothes found too, so the terrorist might have dared to take the time to slip into clean clothes in the first time of chaos)

Let's not forget that these guys are complete losers, their life is worth exactly nothing, they didn't accomplish anything worth mentioning in their time on this earth and of course the worst case scenario for these freaks is that they bomb/kill/whatever and they don't show up in the news with their names and ugly faces.
