What gaming rig are you playing on?

I had been playing PC games on my Acer Aspire Predator AG7750-U2222 for the past six years. But it died this week and I am having a hard time finding a replacement for it. So I thought I'd see what the rest of your are using to give me something to go on.

As for my Acer Aspire Predator, it was the best computer I have ever owned. Even after six years, it was still running every new game I installed on it with no problems whatsoever. I miss it. :'(

If it was still running new games and you liked it, any chance its repairable?  What broke on it?  If it is just one of the easy to replace parts, might be worth looking into although certainly getting a new machine is great too.

It still plays most graphics games at pretty good rates (I play Witcher 3 with all settings on good to high) and dont seem to have any issues playing any of the new games.  It is not ready for Virtual reality though like Occulus Rift.  I had planned on getting a new computer this year but with the wife going back to school for her PhD all my unnecessary gaming budget has gotten scrapped (it went towards getting her a nice light laptop instead which I now covet but so far I have kept my hands off it). 

My plan now is to keep going with this rig another year or two and then build my own.  I want to get the latest technology with regards to motherboards for dual graphics cards etc so I dont think there is any more value in putting better components in this rig.

I built my own about a month ago and love it. I built this system from pcpartpicker.com. The only changes I made was I used Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 16GB RAM and a MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 DirectX 12 VR Ready card instead. I bought everything through Amazon and paid $1200 due to gift cards and a few parts costing less.

I'm not sure what broke on it. Of the two dozen+ times I tried to boot it up, twice I saw error messages regarding its overclocking. But the longer it sat powered off the longer it would run before it shut itself down; which reminded me of a system that was overheating. As for repairing it, I don't have the technical knowledge to repair it myself and to my knowledge there is no one locally who repairs computers. Due mostly to its age I've decided to buy another PC that will hopefully work as well as my old Predator did--the new Predator that Acer is selling now doesn't impress me--my old one was a better build.

Your PC is about the same age as my Predator. Your plan is exactly what mine was. I was hoping to get another year or two of use from my Predator and this breakdown merely moved up its date of replacement.

Still humming along with my seven year old rig which still handles almost all games very well. Probably another two years until I get a new one.

The nice overclock is what keeps this thing ticking along with with graphic card upgrades.

The 920 GB SSD made a world of difference loading the OS as it went from about 3 minutes from boot to sign-on screen down to about 20 seconds.

I have a Falcon Northwest Talon with liquid cooling purchased 5 years ago.  It is very quiet and still runs everything that I play (but I don't play real time or shooters).

My Rig is going on 6 years too so I'm pretty happy with it. aside from uping the GPU I've done nothing with it.
