The Great, White Winter of 2017

More snow Tuesday. Then a warm up to 45 F and then ice over the next weekend. No more running outside for a while...to the treadmill :(

A couple of years ago I started using YakTrax (http://www.yaktrax.com/product/run) for running in icy conditions, and they work great.

I wore them to walk the dog after an ice storm, they did not grip, I did a 180 and landed on my face, my teeth going through my lower lip. Still have the scars.

Can't believe you all get snow and THEN warm weather ....lucky sods  :P  it's cool to read other runners stories  8) sorry about your lip Gus ...ouch  :-\  Trailrunner , I'm jealous of your snowy run through the woods , sounds idyllic and peaceful  :) 

I run on a country lane mostly , unless the weather is truly atrocious , then I'll hit the treadmill . Today, like most days I run on this lane , I had to jump into a side ditch off the road twice to avoid cars !!! Thankfully no one goes that fast so I have time , but with headphones in and concentrating on not twisting an ankle on uneven surfaces , I usually only hear a car when it's nearly right behind me  :'( of course I keep my music low enough so that I can hear better , but that just sucks because I love to blast my music through my eardrums as I run .....only really get to do that on the treadmill though  :(

Always wondered what those running socks/hobbit shoes , haha  ,were like ....now I know not to bother !! I spoke to one guy at the gym/pool once who does bare foot running , each to there own I guess ...but why  :o

The roads weren't too bad here today.  I hate to think what the underside of my car looks like with all that salt they must have put on the roads to get them that free of ice.   ::)

Fun little waves in Newport, and really not that bad once the suit was on and my blood got moving around.

The fall I did with those things was 11 years ago. The dog was 6 months old...he went running back to the house - I think he got scared at the sight of the blood, as did I. But he was fine! I had a fat lipper for a month.
