That's what makes me mad, Nefaro. It's not so much what Netflix may or may not have done, its' the sheer gall of including me in a class action suit without my consent. I don't understand how they can get away with doing so, but regardless, it's wrong no matter what the justification or legalities which allow it.

There are more tutored minds on these boards than me in this regard, but pretty much every class action notice I've received has been structured like this. It may be because of it's very nature: class action = all customers that were treated like XYZ. It's easier to start to include everyone who was wronged and ask them to opt out than it is to invite everyone into it. And the logic isn't completely unsound - the suit starts with the premise that an entire group of people was wronged. It's natural to assume that if the suit has merit they'll want redress.

The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Perhaps there is grounds here... for a class action lawsuit! Wouldn't that be surreal?

It just rubs my libertarian nature the wrong way, you know? Or maybe its my contrarian nature. That may be more likely   ::)
