On sale for $2.99 today on Gamersgate. I have now made up my mind to never buy Paradox products before you are ready to play them. I bought King Arthur II a few months back for $5.00 thinking it was a good price and now its lower; I paid $10 for Crusader Kings II a while back and now its been on sale for $7.50. I have not even had a chance to try them and now they are cheaper. Eventually I do learn from my mistakes.

I know some of you are going to complain about where the developers took this series after the first one (number II is more scripted, less economic options, etc...) and some will point to the bugs the program had/has; but come on its only $2.99 - for that price you can take the chance.

With so many sales these days, which are almost constant anymore.....it isn't the price that's the problem, it's time.  I finally got myself off the treadmill of buying these $5.00 or less games only to play them for an hour and then move on to the next one, and then the next, without ever really getting fully into, no less finishing, any of them.  There just isn't enough time to do so.  Anyway, though tempted, I will pass.

Ha.  Exactly my sentiments.  We're just ridiculously spoiled for choice these days, and as tempting as the current sale is, I doubt I'll pick anything up.  My backlog is embarrassing, and I have Guild Wars 2 coming up too.

I love the original KA Collection.  But I actually wanted to see the kingdom management part more refined in the sequel.  Not less.  :-[

That's a very valid reason. I have personally thought I might try and shut down all game buying for around a year in order to work through some of my game back log.

What I hate about buying a base game for cheap is that later on a compilation comes out with the base game, all its expansions, and all the DLC. I ended up with many different compilations of the same games that way. My gaming backlog is large enough that I am not in need of a PC game anytime soon. Therefore I will apply the $2.99 I would have spent for this game towards its "complete" edition when it is available.

Your reasoning is sound, but in this case I don't know that waiting is the right call...I mean, we're only talking about $3 here.

Yes, it was only $3 and very affordable. But I have so many extra games in my GamersGate collection that were duplicated when I purchased later "Collections" or "Complete" versions that it got to be too much. And that trend began long before GamersGate even existed with retail boxed games. As I noted, I have plenty of other games in my gaming backlog to play while I await King Arthur II Complete, which will at least include the base game and its Dead Legions DLC.

They have two upcoming games in development so I doubt they are going to spend any more time developing DLC for King Arthur II. What I found interesting upon reading the article (first link) about their upcoming Van Helsing game is that it is going to be self published. This made me think back to the article I read that stated how Paradox was to get serious about their quality control Considering how Neocore's Lionheart was plagued by bugs and then King Arthur II had its problems with bugs, I wonder if Paradox cut them loose?.
