The Best Interview You'll See This Year

I know a lot of y'all don't give 2 shits about either the interviewer or the interviewee, but if you can find Dan Rather's interview of Gene Simmons on AxsTV you should really watch it.

He talks about work ethic, and how important it is, in music and in life in general, and it's pretty heartwarming to hear a guy that successful talk about how much work it's been to get there and how even once you're successful you still work your butt off

He has some not-kind things to say about the current state of the music business

But his talk about his mother, his early childhood in Israel in the 1950s, his absentee father, the culture shock of moving to the US, and how great he thinks America is, is just totally totally fucking awesome. You absolutely have got to see him break down talking about his mother at the immigration office swearing allegiance to the US as a part of her immigration.

You can hate the dude's music, but once you see this interview, you gotta appreciate where he came from. Wow.

incidentally, at various times he breaks into Hebrew, Hungarian, and German - yep, the costumed cartoon villain of 70s shlock glam rock speaks 4 different languages

I DVR'ed the re-run of this while I was away at Origins and re-watched it the other day. I completely stand by everything I said in the original post, but moreso. It was an incredible interview.

I do believe that it was one of the very few times Gross was completely flabbergasted by her interviewee.

I've heard a couple of her interviews where it's happened, but never to that degree. Honestly, I'm surprised she continued the interview. It was entertaining as hell, but he was being a real dick. She's a pro, I'll give her that.
