The first half was very good, but as the movie was approaching the end it started to feel a bit like a slowly deflating balloon. The driving scenes were less exciting, the music gimmick had gone over its peak and was heading downhill. The music-inspired road/driving movie part worked less well than, say, Blues Brothers. I guess that might've been due to the music being there most of the time due to the main character always having earphones in.

Character development also felt a bit forced, like how the past of some people was explained/told to you. Show, don't tell. It felt less natural than, say, Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz.

I'd rate it an 8 out of 10, but I wouldn't give it 5 stars. The central ideas moving the plot forwards were not interesting enough for that later on. The cinematography was excellent throughout, that has to be noted, though that too was more impressive in the beginning. The opening heist is very strong in that regard.

This is one cool movie, very original. The casting was especially well done, not just with Baby but the entire robbery crew as well as the waitress/love interest (an ethereal Lily James that any of us would run off with).  I especially enjoyed Jon Hamm as a bad guy (although some would say that's what he was in Mad Men, ha!). Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and Kevin Spacey made for a scary group overall. It's too bad Gene Hackman is retired though...and old. Spacey is always good, but he never quite grabbed me like I know he can, he doesn't quite have Hackman's gravitas for this kind of role.

I thought the soundtrack was amazing and played off each scene perfectly. I especially liked the synchronization of the music during the gunfights. Personally, I thought Baby Driver was a lot more fun than any "Fast and the Furious" movie and way more plausible while not committing the F&F sin of being too damn long.

I do think the very best scene in the movie happened up front. The opening getaway scene was amazing and set the tone (no pun intended) for the entire movie. A classic opening even. Baby Driver is damn good (!) and I'll watch it again. Best of all, it's sheer fun without being brain-dead stupid like so many summer movies. A definite "9" in my summer movie ratings.

Thank god someone else got to see this and thought as I had. I thought I was going mad (and almost the only person around here to have seen it!)

I can't wait for the BluRay and if there weren't other movies out, I'd have went to see it a second time
