Pacific theatre stand alone expansion for Red Orchestra 2 featuring Americans vs. Japanese. Looks good.

I hope they release more maps with the Brit/Commonwealth as well.

Looks like some great infantry combat but I didn't see any vehicles...maybe there are none since tank vs tank combat was rare in the PTO?

There aren't many vehicles in RO2 (2 tanks), so I'm guessing that they're a bit of a problem to implement with the engine. If so, the PTO is a pretty shrewd choice for an expansion

GOTY edition was released yesterday. Looks like they've added some new maps and some new vehicles. Might have to give it a look.

Definitely gonna do some multi-player sometime soon, even though I suck at it. I often have a helluva time peaking out from cover, and getting it to 'lock' on the tops and corners of such. Pop up, shoot a couple times, move. Then waste a second or two trying to position myself to get the cover feature activated again in my new spot. >:(

Need to remember to turn off/down the overdone Bloom, too. Maybe that'll help me see if the light of a thousand suns aren't reflecting into my retinas from every surface in the open. :P

Hopefully the group of players who kept voting for the same custom tiny city map made of nigh endless rooms, in RO2, over & over again finally got sick of that damn thing. Glad that Rising Storm has a good amount of outdoor maps, even if it's mostly jungle. :)

Despite these complaints, it's one of the few more 'tactical' shooters I still bother to play. I'm sure I'll move on to ARMA3 sometime in the future, when it's done and patched, but this is still quite fun for the rare times I get an itch to prove how bad my twitch skills are these days.

ARMA 3 is alright at this stage. I keep playing it if I'm not flying. I kinda forgot about RO2 already (my most played game in Steam).

They reset the controls back to default. Been so long since I'd last played that I forgot what I'd rebound the commands to so I spent more time flailing and dying than I did seeing much of the new content.

Red Orchestra 2: GOTY will be available free on Steam today (Apr 23) for 24 hours. This doesn't include the full version of Rising Storm but it still allows you to play RS maps as a rifleman.

If any of you guys are jumping in now that this game is practically free, be a bit patient. It is definitely a little bit buggy from the latest patch and there are a ton of n00bs online, so TKs are a bit crazy.

It will settle down, it always does.

What I'm saying is that if you have a marginal experience over the next week or two, just not to shelve the game forever based on this week's experiences.

I played a couple matches last night. It was fun but I'm still a rather mediocre player, especially in the jungle. Gotta get past my tendency to stay in cover for long periods of time, since most servers have respawn.

Got to drive a Hanomag last night and unlocked an achievement for carrying passengers a certain distance. Getting shot at the whole time. A T34 eventually baked my biscuit.

Prior to the past week when Tripwire released the GotY edition, and the free give away, and then the sale, I was encountering about 700 or so gamers online when I would play RO2/RS. Since then:

16,311 is the peak! Steams own stats are actually higher at a bit over 16,500 today! That is fantastic! I hope this trend continues! It is long past due for CoD and BF to get a shake-up seeing the rubbish they have been releasing lately. I just hope these new numbers reflect a healthy influx of capital for Tripwire.
