It's a good move for Paradox to do this because there would people demanding we push further east into Japan, Korea, and who knows where else.
Not to mention imagine the engine trying to handle all those characters, events etc.

I'd rather they just made a standalone CK2-engined game covering the whole Sengoku period. 

They already have a map to work with, from their gutted version which hardly has any of the character & political mechanics in it (sadly).

I don't blame Airboy one bit. With 28 DLCs, Crusader Kings II is certainly a cash cow for Paradox. Paradox could give the CK2 base game away for free and it would still make a killing by selling the DLCs for it.

I don't blame Airboy one bit. With 28 DLCs, Crusader Kings II is certainly a cash cow for Paradox. Paradox could give the CK2 base game away for free and it would still make a killing by selling the DLCs for it.

The base game is just fine.  Don't really need the rest. 

Plus they've implemented a huge amount of free additions to the base game throughout all those DLC releases.

Pdox may have gone nuts with DLC for CK2, but they generally did it right.  They didn't charge top dollar for a re-release with some DLC additions.  They didn't make expansions that were incompatible with the core game; it's all modular.  There is no need to look up the order in which you install their expansions in order to get a properly working installation.  There isn't troublesome limited activation DRM gunking it all up.  They did quite well, especially compared to other game companies' bloated messes.

I think Paradox deserves a lot of credit for their approach to CK2 DLC and their big turnaround of previous mistakes.

Exactly. And a lot of that DLC is superfluous. Music packs, sprite packs and the like. If you don't buy them, you aren't affecting your game experience whatsoever. I'd much rather see that offered to people who want to pony up a few bucks than shoehorned into an expansion for even more money when most people don't care about any of it anyway.

when you buy that new 'vet your gonna buy those custom seat covers and floor mats. No one drives a stock 'vet and Paradox knows that. Saying the stock 'vet is fine means exactly what? Nothing.

Jade Dragon. Not what I hoped it would be. I thought you can play China or Chinese Lords.  But no. China is an off map entity that can affect world affairs.  :(

I bought CKII a year ago.  I've tried to play the demo three or for times, and every time, I just get lost in the interface halfway through.  I love the way people describe the game.  I just can't seem to unlock the experience everybody else is finding.

I'm not sure if I'm getting old, or if the interface is just something everybody else is used to.   I guess both could be true?

CK2 requires a certain mindset to play.  Scotch tends to help, for me at least (while playing as Scotland/Moray).
