I thought the episode was pretty good. Isaac innocently questioning the captain on his manhood was the funniest part.

Definitely elements of the original series' "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky" and some from the 1973 series "The Starlost" in the episode.

The main title sequence has already been released. Yes, I've already rolled my eyes at it.

as a person who looks at old and new concept art for lots of shows, movies and games I think its a great opening sequence.

The STD title sequence seems a mashup of those from TOS, The Expanse, and the visual themes from several Bond film intros.

This show is playing too much like a straight TOS/TNG knockoff with a few lame one liners. Episode 4 was okay, but it was middling sci-fi that's been done before.

It's a toss up over which I like less - Orville or STD.

I'm not sure why it's such a miss. The pieces are there and McFarlane is pretty smart guy when it comes to TV. I guess he's just too much of an ST fanboy.

That's such an astute and original observation.  Wish I had said it first.

I've watched most of both episodes and I am super unimpressed.  It's not funny, and its homage to Star Trek, while neat to look at, I have the real thing if I am feeling nostalgic.
