I should add that despite his sourly sarcastic opening monologues (yes, there are two such opening monologues, before the episode intro even rolls), MovieBob actually liked the film and felt pretty satisfied by it.

Went to a late evening show.

Quite enjoyed it.

If you're looking for an action movie, this isn't it.  The movie's long, and a slow burner. 

But it was a beautifully dark world, and lets you soak up that sweet dystopian flavor.  Also - not for those who dislike dark moody shit.  I was locked in for the whole 2 hours and 44 minutes, or thereabouts.  Soakin' it up.  Immersed in it. 

In other words, if you enjoyed the original Blade Runner, you'll enjoy this one.  Go see it.   :bd: 



Hollywood didn't sodomize the property with it's cookie cutter bullshit in this sequel, as they've done to so many remakes & reboots in recent years.  Feels true to the original.   8)

...but thought the pacing was too langorous. Or however the French spell that word. Their general comments suggest agreement with "Mr. Sunday": arguably better than the original.

People corrected them on that point in the comments.  Regarding Voyager stealing it from Red Dwarf.  ;D

And they hate nearly everything.   ;D

I was concerned about the runtime, before going in.  But I made it all the way through, and was glued nearly the whole time.  Except part of what passes for a weird sex scene lead-in.  No actual sex scene, though, so no foul.

Even if you thought the original movie was decent, but very flawed, I think you'd like the new one much better.

I do recommend watching the 3 shorts on YouTube, before going to see it. 

Or, at least, the two live-action shorts.  Don't need to, but I think it helped solidify some of the background details that the movie only very briefly mentioned, and may not have expressed well enough to understand some bits.

While there is a couple moments where the movie gives a callback to earlier things, it still often depends on the viewer remembering earlier bits to get that "Ahh-ha!" reaction.  Seemed to have less hand-holding than many big budget movies today, which is great.
