Decades Feeder Bracket - 1987 Round of 16

1987 was a pretty good year for music.  Some all time classics came out.  Stuff that we instantly recognize today.  That being the case, why was it so hard to put this Bracket together?  After wrestling with it for some time this morning, I finally agreed on the lineup we have now.  But, there's a lot of compromises I had to make to get here.  The picks seems a bit skewed towards, "harder," stuff.  A function of the material released at the time.  However, there was a lot of good music of all stripes and I guess that's what has me unsettled in the choices I made.  In any event, I know you will vote this out the way you see fit and we'll see if I had any idea of what I was talking about.

Yeah.  I heard it on the radio the other day and somebody replaced a lot of the guitar parts with some crappy synthesizer.  I couldn't have been more, "WTF?!?!?!!??!! When did THIS happen?"

I was referring to the original 1982 version from the "Saints & Sinners" album.
Both Here I Go Again and Cryin' In The Rain were re-recorded for the '87 self-titled album (and Fool For Your Loving was re-recorded for the next one w/ Steve Vai)

seriously?  In 30 years you've never heard Welcome to the Jungle?

I get maybe not having heard Animal - big hit at the time, but not as much staying power on the radio since then - but Welcome to the Jungle is still all over the place.

If you haven't heard either of the first two seeds, then I am going to agree that we listen to very different types of music.  I could see never having heard Animal, but, Welcome to the Jungle is fairly well ensconced in pop culture.  Enough that I can't imagine you have escaped it.  But I see this as a good thing.  You get to hear some stuff that you aren't so familiar with and maybe find something you like.  And I would be interested to hear what you like.

Oh. My. Dear. Lord.......you put U2 up against Fleetwood Mac, I love both those bands!!!! That was a tough call to make to choose between both songs  #:-) But in the end I gotta back the Irish fellas, because I just liked that song of theirs more :)

Whitesnake and heart was a tough choice too   :wow: but I went with heart, the piano being played swung it for me, and I think both songs were aiming to be dramatic powerful ballads, and I think heart pulled that off better in that song than the guys from Whitesnake....... But I still love the Whitesnake track!!!!!
