I'm interested in your opinion of it. On paper it sounds like a great idea for a survival game. I hear it is rather buggy though.


Impressions please

Its awesome!  I've been playing for several months now - it seems much more stable since the official 1.0 launch.  I'm not a huge shooter guy, but I just can't stop playing this one.  Even more fun with a good group, btw.

I'm a sucker for the eastern empires and Successor States.  Pontus is probably my favorite, but Egypt and Parthia are fun too. 

I really need to take Carthage out for another spin.  I've never done particularly well with them, but they always fascinate me (both from a cultural standpoint, plus their starting strategic position).

Same, for Rome 2.

Had the most fun with Pontus thus far, with the Successor States ranking high too (Egypt, Macedon, maybe Seleucid if willing to deal with the initial diplo mess).  I'd also add Armenia to this list of tops, up there with Pontus.

Carthage, too, although their grand campaign start often gets rather painful due to a steady stream of DoWs on you from around the western Med early on, including Rome.  However, Carthage has a wide mix of unit types.  Which is a big deal when it comes to enjoying playable factions IMO.

Haven't done much other than tinker with Parthia, Baktria, and some of the Black Sea colonies; the factions heavy on cavalry.  I'm so wedded to having a fairly solid front line of infantry, and try to avoid having too many mounted units since they require more micro-management.  My clickfest skills were never great, and they're only getting worse with age.

As long as you're okay with the game having nothing to do with either of the films, and being its own canon, despite borrowing several aesthetics from the film, then yes, it's fine-to-great -- buy with confidence.  O0

* Armored Freedom -- a turn based dice-based card-based tactical mech game (super cheap on sale and decent reviews, we'll see how it goes)

* Iron Brigade -- a 3D tower-defense mech game (also super-cheap on sale and decent reviews etc.)


I thought heavily about supporting Playdek by buying their two-player Agricola port and their two-player Le Havre port, even though I already own both of those in their full multiplayer versions on iOS. But I decided against it (since I can play the full versions on iOS already).

I played a bit of Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy earlier today. It's not terribly impressive. I figured the likenesses of the actors would have cost them megabucks so I expected facsimiles and different voices (though Groot and Rocket are of course themselves in look), but it's still somewhat lame. But it's GotG, so I'm going to stick with it.

Batman I've not tried yet but will get to it when I get through GotG. If Prattman recommends it and it sticks to the canon of the legendary genius of Joel Schumacher and his two brilliant Batman movies, well, pfft, I can't wait! :) :)
